Hello,
the following problem: The camera is not recognized of my laptop. It was the first time to join shortly detected directly, but then disappeared again in Device Manager. In this context, I found the tip to delete the file "INFCACHE.1" - the camera is then recognized again shortly after a restart, but disappears immediately.
Cable, Camera and PCMCIA FireWire card are okay. In my subnotebook works exactly the same hardware properly. On both computers, Windows XP (running installed, and even of the same CD!).
The FireWire card is easily recognized of the two computers.
A bug in the hardware so I can really mutually exclusive, the PCMCIA slot in the notebook works with DVB-T card or UMTS modem synonymous properly. The camera has s.dem laptop has never worked.
Virus scanner is AntiVir Premium - I had the test been synonymous disabled. A firewall is not running, and otherwise, the calculator is actually synonymous not "messed up".
Do you have an idea what can one do?

Often liegts s.Kabel - a cable that works well with a camera, go for a completely different and not vice versa.

But in my case, I can rule it out already. The cable with the camera works s.anderen notebook. I have been synonymous bought a new cable => selbser Effect.
For me it is really s.der combination of camera and laptop. At least I have no other approach.

you use the same firewire pcmcia card s.beiden notebooks? if not, it could to "communication problems" between the chipset and the firewire-connected device available. sowas zb occasionally occurs in firewire audio interfaces. in many cases you can identify the manufacturer of the chipset firewire card in windows device manager (; IIEE 1394 Bus host controllers).
the functioning computer that could be a different manufacturer (; texasinstruments ..?) than in non-functioning (; nec, via ..?).
virenscanner / firewall may also be the offenders. Some antivirus software bites persistently in all the relevant system and wants to one-and outputs to control the synonymous IIEE 1394 interface ...
