Hello,
Since yesterday my Canon MV400i camcorder is unfortunately defective. The engine is gone, after the camera has already eaten some cassettes :-(
Now, I am driven to the idea, rather than recorded on tape directly to a FireWire hard drive, then connect the disk directly s.The Camera.
Is it conceivable that that could somehow work?
Were very happy to get a positive answer, because the repair will cost 210 ¬ :-(

It is not quite so directly. But is it doable for example on a notebook.
There are even more recently, a small, handy hardware, almost a kind of adapter, with which is possible. I've been looking all evening for the name of the part, but come on it anymore. When I think of it again, I'll link to post here (unless someone else ...).

I would like to use the camera but still mobile. This goes with a notebook to be qualified. Add to this that I am not a notebook with Firewire interface possess :-(

No, I did not mean Firestore. For Firestore is indeed a quasi-self-contained Festplattensytem. I really meant only one kind of adapter, with the then commercially available hard disks with USB interface can be connected.

I would interpret times: Yes. It says the above website:
"Utilizing built-in rechargeable batteries, the Catapult is capable of continuous recording in excess of three hours. The Catapult can also be powered with the included AC adapter." However, this only mention of the power supply for Catapult, which is hard drive is not explicitly mentioned. But if the hard drive would have to be supplied again in addition, would Catapult indeed almost a faulty construction.
Too bad that it does not give to have more information. I think the fact that for some types of productions as an interesting alternative to DV tapes. Fire doors to me as simply too expensive.

I watch the Bella - Page also been a while - since when was slashcam noted. If I have understood correctly, you can order on any USB 2.0 storage media (iPod to record) is not mandatory. Since there are now USB hard disks with battery supply, this part would be synonymous portable applications. So, just what looking for so many filmmakers. I also synonymous.

No, I can see no progress. I think all came to naught. The company is known for cutting Bella keyboards and really serious. All the more I wonder .. e the processing of this product.
