Hi!
My Canon HV20 shows since yesterday recorded tapes as blank.
Ie there are no more measurements in the magistrate bar, eg at what minute you are just there. I only see a blank blue screen as it normally happens when nagelneugekauften blank cassettes.

I just got my HV30 reingeschaut times (and the HV20 is composed of nearly identical mechanics) oh well close!
Perhaps you can help so my experience from the past. I s.meine S-VHS (Moster, Grundig VS-180) always cleaned the heads synonymous. At the pharmacy you will get 98% alcohol. The alcohol, I have applied to a kind of strong paper, which I got a friend of Radio and TV technician, so that the head capsized and they rotated. It was always amazing what a mud came down there. I would recommend you otherwise (with a sort of Q-tips, just a little harder) they soaked in alcohol s.den head to come. I was with my good Grundig VS180 always so "courageously build" this deal to come to s.den head, but here :-( ... and I would not do anything too small. The alcohol in the pharmacy does not cost much synonymous ( and I think under $ 10 then)

The cleaning can be with (making isopropyl alcohol; Chemist). If I understand the only alcohol does not attack the plastic. Is used synonymous to Nassabspiel of records. To clean just use something which is not fuzzes. There are special cleaning cloths. Cotton swabs are risky because the cheap versions considers himself happy with liquid.
