Hello dear community forums,
I hope I'm here with my question in the proper forum.
So a few years ago I had the time, a Sony camera but mitlerweile only the videos, nunja now I would like to view or digitize it. My camera had then a Firewire connection but I absolutely do not remember how the name was.
Now I have tapes on which stands Hi8 MP but synonymous Digital8 now I'm obviously looking for a camera with which I can play both formats but I know not with what I recorded, it should be synonymous achja NTSC capable of this.
I know because I absolutely not and I hope it can help when someone.

Hello,
if your camcorder, a Firewire port had, then it must have been a Digital8 device. The analog Hi8 cameras did not have a DV - (Digital Video) port.
If you want to play the tapes, so you need a Digital8 camcorder. If you take one that reflect the synonymous-analog Video8 and Hi8 recordings can, you're always on the secure page.

Oh yes, that means that if the camera was a Digital8 device, then this means that the synonymous Digital must have recorded?

That's right. And it does not matter whether it has done on Digital8, Hi8 or Video8-tapes at all.
