Hello, I am rather inexperienced in this field.
Would like to create some small videos in the WMV format. Have as a mini-DV recorder of Sony (DCR-TRV12E). Movies I transfer via firewire on my XP Pro. The Movie Maker converts synonymous everything around me, but unfortunately the picture quality very poor. Sound is great. Have a 8 minutes at about 10-11 MB and the video with the High quality setting.
Is there another program to create simple movies in WMV format, or what has the Movie Maker or Cam will be converted.
I hope someone out there can help synonymous to a layman without professional Chinese.

Another alternative would be the Windows Media Encoder (also free). The Windows Movie Maker that is not allows all settings. As always synonymous, but do so synonymous achieve good results. What resolution, bit rate and frame rate you've selected it?
Choose time "video for broadband connections" with, for example, 512 Kbit / s. If you, the resulting video (approx. 30 MB) is too large, then use a lower bitrate (eg 340 kbit / s).

Hi All,
the templates in Windows Movie Maker are optimized for NTSC video (-> 30 fps). Better quality can be achieved if you set 25 fps (PAL). Whether that is possible in WMM, I do not know. In Windows Media Encoder, which is in any case. Deinterlacing and Pixel Aspect Correction not forget! ;-)

erstmal thanks for the quick response. (always thought forums were boring, but let myself be happy to convince you otherwise). Super.
So I found the adjustment. Resolutionist 320/240 bit rate is now 512 and the frame rate is 25 (Oh man, was not so easy for 0-nen really clue in video like me). Must say, is already a lot better. But I myself have downloaded the videos in WMV or better. These have a volume of about 8MB a minute. There must still be making something else, right? The 2nd Attempt was 640/480 512 times with bitr. and 25th frame This fact resulted in the desired MB but quality was poor. ... I just wanted a video just a short time in good quality ;-( (Hope you can have me a little help

Will I get the same time the encoder. What is deinterlacing and what I then and there to put what I have to then adjust the pixel aspect ratio correction?

Not every material is the same settings with the same good result. Three aspects of screwing up the file size: Good quality, detailed images and a lot of movement. The art during compression of video films is to develop a feel for the correct parameters, so that the optimal settings with the fast time (s) found.

If your WMV video has an aspect ratio of 4:3 (eg 320x240), then the output format (DV-AVI video) should be in a Resolutionvon 704x576, so that there are distorted portrayal None. To achieve this, you need of your DV-AVI video cut away left right and 8 pixels.

I have changed the above DV clip with a size of 720x576 with the Procoder Express into a large 320x240 WMV video. The Resizer will do AviSynth. Then I of the DV clip 8 pixels wide margins left and right away, so that there was one Resolutionvon 704x576. This video was then passed to the Procoder Express, which has this huge turn transformed into a 320x240 WMV video. Of the two videos I've made it to the very first frame. In the extracted 320x240 large frames, I have sketched then a 103x103 "square. It looks very nice, creates a distortion in which output resolution.
