Hello, me about 2000 ¬ for this and I want to invest HDV production.
Consideration 1: used MAC PRO 2.66 GHZ 1GB RAM 320GB hard drive (expandable advantage, video card.... / disadvantage - that money goes only for the MacPro does not monitor (old 20'TFT available), hard disk expansion ....)
Reflection 2: IMAC - for 1900 I get 2.8 GHz, 4GB RAM, 1000GB HDD (advantage: a good monitor, plenty of RAM for HDV, disadvantage is not as expandable as MAC PRO, however, he has synonymous FW800 port (Taurus RAID 1GB available) DVI to DVI for external display .... and sufficient for HDV.
Sliced is with Final Cut Studio2 (only use Final Cut and DVD Studio Pro)
About your opinions, tips and tricks I would be very pleased.

If you're absolutely sure that there is only Final Cut Pro (with HDV) and DSP are, incidentally, extends to the smallest current Mac, I have.

A favorable IMAC has the advantage that I have a really good TFT (eg Eizo) could fetch.

And even for the Canon XH-A1 (HDV precisely) the iMac is more than adequate.

What do you want to do with the HDMI card and an XH-A1? With a HV20/30 capturing? To work with uncompressed HD sources to be able to? Then it might be the MacPro.

The HV20, I have to capture. And for a preview, I could then have a FULL HD TELEVISION drannmachen or something to work with:

But the iMac is just the cheaper version and I had money for a super-TFT-Monitor, Tripod ....... new left.

All you need is RAM. Just a new MacPro viertelvoll inserted. This can correct, a fortiori if in addition to Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and Co. run.

These "Ram is all" stories, I would enjoy with caution. Is usually not true.
Sure: 2GB should it happen.
More you will not exploit if you do not just twenty programs running simultaneously.
Hab in my G5 Quad 2.5 GB RAM in it and am in spite of Photoshop CS3, Final Cut Pro, Logic 8, Pro Tools, Lightroom, iTunes, Safari and have never s.die RAM limits. The times where the RAM bottleneck had in current computers are finally over!
On my Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz with 2GB RAM running HDV editing synonymous bestens!

If I were with only 2 GB of RAM to work, everything is often too slow. I recommend at least 4 or 8 GB. RAM costs almost synonymous but nothing at the moment.

Frankly, I do not synonymous, what processor, memory or graphics card, the performance aspects are responsible. What I wanted to say was: Comparison with previous versions of Final Cut Pro to surprise a lot of older computers in real time. Even I (with the smallest iMac!) For some time the combination of Apple + Q quit. Apple + H seems nothing auszubremsen. Finde ich fett. Or just tired ;-)

Mach purely eight times and then we talk next. HP takes three, if you are three. And the need for the program to me synonymous. LR also delighted when a few thousand photos and more in the library.
Safari and iTunes - ok. Since you have right ;-)

But Powermac has quite. The prices today can be synonymous quiet a few more gig purely hit. Bring only mostly nix. But it is safe.

I barely understand. I'm always s.Limit. When I run Illustrator, Photoshop, Motion (HD animation), Final Cut Pro (XDCAM HD), iTunes, Safari, Mail, Proteus, Text Edit, Quicktime Player and MPEG Streamclip precisely at the same time. And I dream of 8 GB!

Nope. Is not a 64bit program. PS You can assign a maximum of 3072 MB.
To do this you need but synonymous One A0 in CMYK with 40 layers. Nope. A few 16bit Tiff from the 1Ds MKIII with a few layers as masterfile and are already looking forward to the Scratch Disk in sleep can remain.
Bring only mostly nix. Just try it out.
Now, however, we are really off topic. ;-)

Hmmmm ... Times I had a trial the Canon HV 20, and with 2 GB RAM, Intel Core Duo iMac and I have FCE rendering takes forever to wait. Real-time was not there.
Now I am back with movies Pana NV-GS 500th Do what I done wrong in principle?
