There is not "the" real-time preview. Real-time performance is always limited by the structure of compositions, the complexity of the project, tracks, effects ... Even accelerator cards like the Matrox guarantee only for its own gain effects and limited complexity. Theoretically, you could trace Yes 1000 with Glow and have Picture in Picture. The computer will not ever live to create. So the question is in itself illogical.
You can only buy a new premiere. 6.5 is not just my opinion, pretty bad and lame. Premiere CS3 is much faster, renders it not about any Scheiss. CS3 is 6.5 on a current computer to excel in every aspect. Above all, simply because some 6.5 must always render, it's no different. Not so with CS3, which allows much more intuitive and faster work.
