Theoretically, we can expect twice as fast as with a CPU / core. (Singel Core)
Practically, it is highly application-dependent how much faster it goes.

Intel has started again a little confusion as they picked the name.
AAAAABER the Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe is a really horny Processor. Did he himself s.laufen since Friday and am constantly amazed ins.
I am very satisfied so far, the assembly, etc. went very Easily.

Today I have rendered the benchmark at the moment though ... I miss all the cc effects, according to my AE 7, but he has 1 min 5 sec needed.
The configuration looks like this.
Conroe E6600 on asus p5b
2 Gig Ram
eGeForce evga 7900 GT KO
sata raid
3d Mark 2006 says SM2.0 Score: 832 hdr / sm 3.0 score: 1020 CPU score 2032

The Conroe 6600 shows a doubling of performance by a factor of 2 and above - compared with a P4 / 3 GHz.
Measured was the render to HDV and HD-wmv, and the preview behavior in Vegas. Even in AP Pro render times will be halved.

AMD still brings out in front of a motherboard on which 2 x FX CPUs (that is to install 2x2 cores).

Thanks Silver there is the intel core duo processor. Its successor is the core 2 duo!
The name "core duo" stands for the 2 processor cores, the "2" stands because of the continued of the core 2 duo core duo ist.also the 2nd core duo!

The beautiful s.den new Core 2 Duo processors is so synonymous that the Prices for AMD's dual-core processors dramatically fallen sind.Kostete eg the (Sockel939) X2 4800 + still half a year ago almost 1000 ¬ you get it now already from ~ 270 ¬, that's true Wahnsinn.Zwar one gets from ~ 290 ¬ synonymous even faster Core 2 Duo E6600 synonymous but one must add on the cost for the conversion (possibly new motherboard + new DDR2/533-Speicher)
Example: I have a (Sockel939) AMD X2 3800 +. If I were to stay with my AMD system and upgrade to a faster X2 4800 +, the cost would wieschon to say ~ 270 ¬ for the new CPU.Für this I get 270 ¬ almost synonymous, but a good new Core 2 Duo-compatible Mainbaord (eg ASUS P5B from ~ 125 ¬) + an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (from ~ 170 ¬) and in contrast to have an AMD X2 4800 + about 1 / 3 Fleet system. This need is not new but now synonymous DDR2/533-Speicher (say 1GB DDR2 Markenram, eg 2xMDT or less takeMS-512MB/CL4 = ~ 70Euro) in Comparison The additional cost for changing to an AMD X2 4800 + for me it has Together ~ 100 ¬ (+ overhead due to system modification)
But even then: what are already ~ 100Euro switching costs given the performance gain?

Inform the processor support, even for a suitable motherboard chipset are not always guaranteed because it is synonymous to the layout (especially important voltage converter section) -

I will, however, involves the transition with waiting because of my computer processing hands me my X2 3800 + at the moment, first I want to switch to HDV or AVHCD a change is probably a good idea, and until then I just sit, but on Intel quad.
Also: How do I know the hardware sector is then again maybe a new motherboard for the quad-core support due (again because new chipsets and higher demands s.Stromversorgung or otherwise) which - I buy, therefore also for safety's not jump to a new board which I then 1Q/2007 possibly because the quad from tipping into the barrel.
