Frage von umwelt:Hello,
I will soon get a PC with 1.9 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive ...
I will, inter alia, cutting videos.
Currently, I am 100% Linux user, and only did so solely on the kubuntu box. The program, which is under Linux for video editing there (movies, Jashaka ,...) convince me so far, unfortunately not: (. If there is perhaps synonymous s.meinem relatively unsuitable current computer.
before me now expensive Windows XP license and buy Magix, ne ask:
quite objectively and impartially: which operating system is currently better suited for DV Editing: windows or linux?
with all love to linux that I have the impression that there is (still) nothing _wirklich_ great for DV editing it.
for which operating system would you choose if you could get both free?
achja will windows just as the second-system install. for all the other work I find linux practical.

So very well be unbiased every Linux user to admit that it is in the field of DV editing on Linux is not particularly great looks. For DV, there are least a few things (which you probably already found synonymous and have tried), HDV is the best of my knowledge so far failed completely.

Before you now, however, extensively Money for Windows and Magix (in any case, let the hands of this program - the mistakes and problems that arise here surpass all others) could you possibly try MainActor (http://www.mainconcept.com/ site / index.php? id = 395) Is it synonymous for Linux and IMHO synonymous in a test version. Actually, enough for most applications - and it is always a good idea, Manufacturer support synonymous with their products for Linux is available.
However, it is nevertheless indisputable that the opportunities are greater on Windows. But it depends primarily depends on what you want to do - a lot is synonymous with Linux.

but where no money, because no software:)

Cinelerra is the best free video editor for Linux:
http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php3
or a little more user-friendly version:
http://cvs.cinelerra.org/
Unfortunately, the program is difficult to install and requires some training. At best, it seems, the multi-LiveCD Dynebolic to use.

Supposedly, you can immediately losarbeiten without installation, so ideal for test (
Antwort von arteurope:
Cinelerra is really the most appropriate choice for Linux, but not only. At a video editing suite includes many other programs and this is what makes the matter complicated, because use is all this only if you read a lot and tried. Unlike Windows programs, with which you can quickly get started with Linux you must first program a lot of work put into it. This is the result when you mastered it, much better than what Premiere has to offer.
Get:
ImageMagick on a console batch.Bearbeitung of individual images
CinePaint for manual processing of individual images
(Blender 3D Background Processing)
Gimp you anyway
avidemux to convert and single image output for quick and easy cutter works
dvdauthor for dvderstellung
and then of course console programs such as
transcode
ffmpeg
swftools
Other mpg123. and .. and
be synonymous
wg mplayer mencoder
libdvdcss course to view DVDs
obviously synonymous snd sound editing programs and / or Audacity and of course the ALSA daemon, etc.
and finally
Cinelerra and that I go a little closer to a just a little bit, it must always be clear to you that much you need to find out myself, but the results and options are similar to the Avid and since we are already talking of a professional image.
Erstmal Cinelerra is complicated because the approach to the conventional cutting programs is different. Did you understand (about 3 hours trial & error), it is for simple tasks just as intuitive as Premiere, but with the difference that can do
anything, synonymous HD resolution, or what else is there in the future, and even comes with an old PC.
The successful installation of Cinelerra depends, as always s.bestimmten libraries and other background programs that are your personal reasons already made possible the installation system difficult, or impossible. The best start you with the latest edition of cinelerra s.and if not resolve the dependencies can you take the next older. Sometime it fits. The version differences exist among others in the support of certain rendering formats. With newer Cinelerras you can (allegedly) directly for the DVD render, or you can directly DVD mpeg files into Cinelerra invite for older you must do something more.
Older, so performing PCs can still synonymous entire job, because cinelerra not the footage on disk must have. Cinelerra writes simply an XML file, where all the cuts and effects are assigned to individual images. When rendering process is only the image of the material brought for example DVD (using the written list of mpeg3toc) processes and the (possibly kleinkomprimierte resource friendly) Result written to harddrive. In the settings you can determine how many frames the monitor output is, inefficient in PCs just to play it every 4th Picture from. This is obviously not the real workflow, but as I said in this section, we are talking about a Pentium I or II, the performance is so is that you actually from the old boxes still can bring out.
The normal career of a self-DVD is for me:
1. with the console program mpeg3toc, or of cinelerra mpeg3toc.hv brought a list of pictures to customize.
Usage: mpeg3toc <path> <output>
That list you have open in cinelerra. Based on this list cinelerra loads your movie and you can edit it.
If cinelerra lockup times, older versions are unstable, shoots you with eg Ctrl / Alt / Esc skull (yes, I still use SuSE 9.2-not so good) the program s.and run it again and call in the backup files on , which takes about 10-15 seconds and you've got your back previous screen with all the processing steps.
2. After editing, I usually render to avi after VideoCD or DVD, challenging projects but are synonymous in bytefressende uncompressed codecs rendered, or in individual output, then the automated script on a console with Image Magic processed. Individuals may Scenes with Picture Picture for CINEP
