I use a "USB Type A Male USB Mini B Male for Digital Camera, HDD, MP3 (as appears on the package so), a standard USB cable. When I connect the DVC with the calculator, you will hear the signal for "Device Connection Failed". Forget USB (only makes problems and the quality is synonymous not great)!

a short time ago I had the same problem with another cam of panasonic. I bought myself a firewire card slot bought for around 20 euro. And since it runs fine. usb does not seem easy to use, even though the cam had a USB cable here.
