Well, at 18 MB / S Standard compression only 12 minutes walk to the 8-cm DVD and even those who would like only 12 minutes duration on an unreliable, outdated and non-durable medium?
Furthermore, the AVC/H.264-Komprimiereung should still be very expensive and significantly s.Battery Sucking And besides himself considers Sonydas BlueRay drive it (with about 60 min) for being too power-hungry for your camcorder and the 8cm version until s.2007 for camcordertauglich.
Viewed'm curious to see how Canon and JVC will react to this "strange" DVD interim solution.
My Conclusion: be careful with changes. Good is only the size but not the 8 cm DVD in this context.

See the whole not so negative. The duration should be in somewhat the current DVD camcorders with MPEG2 Recording are. I've had enough of the loose, especially the 8cm discs always favorable.
Even more interesting I find the message of active video that Panasonic's new AVCHD camcorders will make synonymous with SD. Since 4GB is already available, which can be very interesting.
I'm only happy when it is finally more alternative to tape. less comfortable because it is really not.

Hmmm, but is in the news, right? VAD was referring to the broadcaster AJ HPC featured at NAB 2000 (P 2 card), it is 2007 for the Cam described here indicate H.264 intraframe codec - MPEG 4, which requires only half the space compared to DVCPRO HD. Thus those pesky anti-Pana were 6-8 min recording time pasee .....
The consumer version - so, at the 1000 ¬ - HD MPEG 4 / 4 GB SD card but the way it should be.
