I would do it via Bildadition. Ifs are just individual parts, you can determine the synonymous stabled. AE unfortunately I do not know very well. But I guess that is for most programs to be strain related ;-)

Hi,
this is quite simple. Add your footage into the composition, masking
the parts in question (the mask add up mode on) turn the desired effect. Then the original footage put under the
masked. Done.
