In Lord of the Rings MakinfOfs he's still obese and then he must have very much diminished.

Material, there are enough - many hours of making of King Kong ... :-)

30 cameras? Is it a little, normal or much for a production of this magnitude?

Durable 30 cameras (not sure constant use) is much synonymous for the very large magnitude. But maybe he's afraid that he'll get a replacement if one is sometimes wrecked;) .... Normally are brought out just as many cameras as you need s.dem day of shooting (my account + backup) ... Normal cameras are 1-10 I'd say .... except for very complex scenes.
