For a long time beating myself now with the native rather tough AVCHD workflow in Premiere CS4 around.
Again and again it comes to crashes and even comical at 720p/50 material "trembling effects" not only in the timeline preview but synonymous in the finished rendered clip. The constant Zwischenrendern even at the easiest transition takes time.
There is hope for improvement even with the announced MercuryEngine of CS5 and (in conjunction with CUDA GPUs).
Rather by chance and curiosity, I installed a demo version of EDIUS NeoBooster and what can I say!? Given all that was already running CS5 with Mercury and its 1500Eur expensive promises QuatroFX cards!

I have worked many years in parallel with Adobe Premiere 6 -> Pro CS4 and EDIUS. Meanwhile EDIUS (currently obsolete in version 5.5) I think AP long ago - not only in terms of performance and stability but synonymous correction where the ability of color, media management and export / As real-time preview.
Look at you in order to http://www.digitalschnitt.de/ advising very active and you can certainly help.
EDIUS is much slimmer than AP, much less finished Filters / Effects / Templates etc. .. You need something?
Premiere?? I will not no longer use, EDIUS can do it better.

I've worked a long time very much synonymous with premiere, especially with the PPro CS2 and later synonymous with the CS3er version.
Basically I've never been synonymous major problems but when I made first tests with HD material - no preference whether P2 or XDCAM EX, AVCHD, there were some problems. You had to constantly update, some will unterstürzt still not really native and the performance with HD material is not quite on the current system really very modest.
So I had tried some time ago several times synonymous editing software ... Liquid did not please me, I knew of the work, AVID MC, etc. I was synonymous with what it regards bitchy to other file formats and be where I was working less and less frequently used synonymous - for cost reasons.
By Magix Video Pro X2 I want to install private views and a trial version have failed.
And then I tried EDIUS times. And was surprised that I suddenly was able to import HD material and easily edit virtually synonymous. At least far better than in Premiere. Out and again the timeline is running slightly slower than real time - but I can cut the material. Above all, this is synonymous with material problems can combine different formats like that.
I have bigger things with Edius not yet begun, but if you have the keyboard erstmal adapted s.seine needs so you can work very well in my opinion.

I have used First Premiere Premiere 4.2 and then 6.0. The latter was beautifully DV editing and filled my hobby needs and half years ago, well, so I've never gone up to newer versions of Premiere. Introduced only after purchase one AVCHD camcorder, the question of current editing software, and so I ended up with Edius Neo 1 (vswegen the HQ codec). Although I could have been tolerable price for a Premiere upgrade, but that would have me in terms AVCHD does not really cut further forward.
I had to go after more than ten years, Premiere has something to get used, and to this day I sometimes look around a bit helpless when I want to do with Edius Neo was very specials. But this is mainly because I'm a typical casual user and am not busy every day with the program. Synonymous because you forget something that you knew at the last project yet. And the handling of Edius is not so intuitive that training could be dispensed with.
What I like s.Edius s.meisten meanwhile, is the high stability. Premiere 6 was evaporated to me every now and again. I also like specifically s.Neo 1, the sensational price-performance ratio, I can so totally professional and without "einsteigergerechte" barriers to work, but I have not paid more than a beginner program .*
The development of Premiere, I have in recent years only followed from a distance, but had the impression that Adobe has not covered itself with glory especially hot topic in AVCHD. It took very long until you could cut it with Premiere AVCHD at all times, first a sauteur buy in without having to plug - and even then it worked far from satisfactory.
* Funnily enough, I got for my old Premiere 6.0 on eBay about two and half times as much as I paid for Edius Neo 1st That was a brilliant exchange. ;)

I always can again only confirm that the plug-ins for EDIUS ATI and NVidia has clear advantages over. Source GM Forum

With ATI cards is the video preview in PPro CS4 quite problematic, as I discovered. On the other hand is what EDIUS with NVIDIA and ATI equally well. These are my personal impressions (vs NVIDIA 8800GTS 512MB. ATI HD5850).
Since I HD5850 only since Monday, my own call, and is the performance with EDIUS with this without fail and blame, I was not busy with plug-ins, as you mentioned it.
