consistently high data rate of Firewire.
Regarding your above reasoning: A DV camcorder with a data rate transfers of about 25 Mbit / s. Of purely of performance they could be So you have a single FireWire cable of 16 camcorders capture at the same time. ;-)
Another benchmark:
USB 2.0 (480 Mbps) is not [!] Faster than Firewire 400 (400 Mbit)
