lt sony has its own software spec. cam just for this! no video editing software or anything like that!

No DV -/D8-Camcorders need some special software from the Manufacturer.
Therefore I can only assume that you are the USB port (if want to use any) for capturing the video recordings. But you do not need to do, there's a better option. ;-)
