Hi Jane,
first uninstall the firewire card in Device Manager and let it scan for new hardware.
If that does not help to build the map again and again from. If you still present the same mistake, they sit around at a different slot.

So now that I've tried with the equipment manager and it comes back the same error message ... = (
But now I have noticed is that the camera is listed in device manager as "AV / C Subunit" and with an exclamation point is provided.
Can s.der map is based on how I believe that you suppose ^ ^? because it saw the card works correctly even if I click there then akutalisieren on drivers, even coming back this error message ... because of windows could not load the setup program for image ...

I can do nothing on my computer on it. Of course you can do it! Only to USB is not suitable (unless you want to transfer your video in poor quality), then connect camera and PC with a Firewire cable. For this you need no special drivers or any software CD.

Hello folks!
I have a similar problem. I have the same SonyDCR Cam-HC17.
My Passion is long: first try via usb it was nothing, then firewire card purchased and installed, Cam was not detected Magix photos and video to CD / DVD has locked up forever.
Then I put the calculator to a computer store that has the firewire card that is checked in order. Then the calculator back and the Cam was always left yet. It was still under warranty on the action you've been renewed since I posted to prove you, and lo and behold the input.
The cam came back and just fine to me I bought Magix Movie Edit Pro 06/07 and the Cam has been detected so I so looking forward to.
But now comes: when I go to recording, the recording runs off as normal but the connection to the cam after a few seconds (approximately between 10 and 20 sec) was suspended and nothing more!
Well now I stand there next and no longer knows the Firewire cable I've already replaced, which has brought nothing!
Maybe someone has any ideas yet?
If the net with PC funzt siehts then as a DVD recorder with out?

So I'm not the Cam next moves! Now I have time, unfortunately, the power adapter connected but does nothing! The second cable I bought is of Hama and costs 16 ¬ so that's not a cheap part, I will find!
I still remember that when I joined the Cam and then turn on first will get the message that I must have the Macromedia Flash Player for the application. Then, the cam is detected.
Now ichs hab grad nochmal magix video and tried with the action because the program has spun again as before, is stuck. The
Connection to the cam, however, is constant.
Only trouble with Firewire, so I will alternatively switch to a DVD recorder.

The problem with your firewire port is apparently not so easy to solve. Do you know anyone in your circle of friends or acquaintances who could see the spot again?

If you want to reprocess the s.Computer, you gotta earn either an appropriate software to buy for it or you deal very intensively with various aspects of DVD video to address the requirement with free tools.
And last but not least, you have that already have a copy loss, even before you have even started with the post. The current workflow provides a data compression before the Berbeitungskette s.end before, not even the beginning.
Is there really no alternative, such as capturing s.einem another PC?
