have a SonyDCR-HC42 E, after some time can create VCD's.
However, I can not select the menu item in the display DVD?
Does this mean that I can not burn DVD?
What do I have to make it work?

Hi Franz,
You have a starting point shots from a digital camcorder (MiniDV) and as an end product, a VCD. More unfortunately, you do not betray, but that will be the end product of a DVD.
What more could be required to allow you to help someone?

do not use the USB Cable, Picture Package VCD to an inferior with a Resolution320x240 to burn.
Your camcorder writes with a Resolutionvon 720x576, used to dub a Firewire cable, software Magix eg ca 30 ¬ now dubbing (, edit, convert MPEG 2 so that your DVD player can read it, s.Schluss on DVD burn - all with) a program.
The HC 42 has only USB full speed, so you can only via USB is a poor 320x240 resolution VCD (or S-VCD's it now I do not even ask for the head), eg with Picture Package. With Firewire - cable you are the gates to heaven open .....
