The tape is in camcorder, or a suitable cassette deleted (recording with Concealed Lens or graphic from the editing program via Firewire - In) or just re-recorded (new recording over the old). A format does not exist in that sense.

on the video tape are indeed, as well as on computer disks that store digital data, but deleting and formatting commands do not exist for camcorders.
If you want to delete recordings, you could dub it easy.
