Infoseite // Sound too quiet for recording with an external stereo XLR Microphone

Frage von dieterbecker:

I have an external stereo microphone for my camcorder purchased.

I use for a 5 meter xlr cables (5 pin stereo to 2 times 3polig).

The sound is automatic when very low levels at maximum manual synonymous not particularly loud.
the micro is not a phantom microphone and runs on a micro battery (1.2 volt).

if I s.camcorder the +48 volt switch, it will be louder, but not damaging the microphone?

ton is so quiet, perhaps because the xlr cable 5 meter long?

have no idea how I get this "too soft" in the problem will get attacked.

thanks for any tips.

What a camcorder microphones and what is it?

Could it be that the Microphone is suitable for both, so either battery or phantom operation permits? I've heard of such a microphone, which can then phantom power with a much better output level have achieved.

5 meter cable length - even with XLR - are a joke. This can give no audible attenuation.

In addition, the XLR jacks accidentally switched on line, or the source is simply too quiet, or the microphone too far away.

Antwort von Parafuso83:

the camera is a JVC GY dv700we that a micro beyerdynamic MCE 72 cam.

as I said, if I have to micro, that has an on switch and with 1.5-volt operation is even more the phantom power switch to the camera, it will be better.

otherwise, the sound really quiet, decisive level synonymous quite low.

My main question: can the microworld of the additional phantom get an injury (it is at least in the manual of the camera)?

Microphone Whether the damage can take, should you ask the manufacturer. But apart from the port should be synonymous without this "trick" work.

The camcorder has these for each channel 3X switch: Line - Mic without 48V - 48V with Mic. Perhaps this is because what is not okay, and you get to the center position is still line level. (Only as a vague idea.)

The MCE 72 can actually be no phantom power - worse, it has no balanced output! The best XLR cables of no use if the Microphone is not symmetrical signal. The link then remains in any case, asymmetric.

5 meters of cable are synonymous unbalanced still not a big problem, but if you already have a camcorder with professional balanced inputs, you should use the possibilities of synonymous and one mic, which is symmetrical outputs.
Maybe you can from the 30-day return policy at Thomann use. For example, the cheap "T-Bone ST500" real balanced outputs should have the brand microphones in this segment are price, unfortunately, in some happig.

What happens if you have a Microphone by asymmetrical simple cable adapter connects s.einen balanced input?

Well, it's missing half the signal, namely the phasenverdrehte part. This is the Level schonmal significantly lower than that of a symmetrical Microphone.

This is still a presumption of Beiti:
