I should here s.der wrong place my questions, I ask for leniency. But I am grateful for any hint that I have.
My problem:
My Super 8 films of a friend was shot and saved with a video device "Casablanca." Then the pieces of films with a software "Arabesque 2" on DVD.
This has all worked quite well and I am satisfied.
Now someone wants just a small choice of films on a separate DVD have collected and burned. Altogether I have 10 DVD `s, of which some films I would like to summarize.
How do you do this?
Is there a good simple software with which I use the files as outlined above, can handle?

With the freeware DVD Shrink, you can do something. Here's a description:
"DVD Shrink is a free DVD Copier, with which they complete DVD or only synonymous with individual chapters or frame sequences precisely to hard drive copy. The with DVD Shrink DVD can then be copied as a safety copy on a DVD disc is burned, as an ISO image stored or with tools like Xmpeg in other formats (AVI, MPEG-1) transformed. "

thank you for your note and your help.
I have just the screen view of DVD Shrink 3.2.0 views. Here you can see the contents seem a Music DVD.
Quite differently sees my DVD: Once here are three sub-directories with the name of Arabesk, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. AUDIO_TS is empty (maybe because only silent films are saved)
Arabesk includes files ARABESK.CFG (CFG-File, BUTTON0-BUTTON 5 (RAW file), MENU (XML document; STAMP_1 - STAMP_6 (JPEG Picture), TITLE.CFG (CFG file).
VIDEO_TS includes for each of the film as an example serving as a DVD file VTS_06_0 (IFO file) VTS_06_0 (VOB file) VTS_06_0.BUP (BUP File VTS_06_1 (VOB-File. This file is several hundred KB.)
Can you actually work with DVD Shrink?

AUDIO_TS is empty ... ... because only in this directory, then data is stored, if it is an audio DVD. The video DVD is the video - and the associated audio content in the VIDEO_TS directory.

DVD Shrink kompremiert only Purchase DVD s (~ 9 + GB) so that you are on a DVD - R (4.7 GB) disc burn can, of course, only as a backup !!!-)
Use
DVD Shrink to DVD material on record to get
DVD2AVI material to DVD (vob files) to AVI convert
Virtualdub to AVI material to be cut into pieces
Movie Maker to gestückelte new material together to cut
Store the material and then let it just as AVI or MPG (vob) to spend burning it to DVD ready
Since you talk of silent film (yes there were times synonymous Sound Super 8 :-) PROGIS accounts as Nandub or etc.

Hello,
Markus is right in the Video_TS folder are your movie files.
Shrink stores it on your calculator if you want.
Using these files, you can then burn your new DVD.

I had an idea still synonymous. Try some of our combination with ProjectX Cuttermaran (both freeware), with ProjectX, you can complete all the DVDs or in excerpts on the hard drive push. Since only rudimentary ProjectX (many would say uncomfortable) offers ways to cut, you could cut the individual clips Cuttermaran leave. You are in Cuttermaran not necessarily synonymous to the cut s.den I-frames set. With an installed TMPGEnc's synonymous sP and B-frames. Clearly, then (lossy) s.den new cuts are encoded, the remaining mpeg stream remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, I have a little experimenting with DVD Shrink.
It works, individual films of the collection of the DVD on the Calculator to bring. How then works with Nero, I must first check.
Some of the films are synonymous sound. But I think DVD Shrink has not the place where I can select the soundtrack. Do you have me here for a tip?

I would do differently:
VOB's to disk copy, rename mpg, with TMPEGENC without cutting and then re-render the new DVD authoring make.
In any case, the MPEG's cut, and not only convert AVI, cut and then convert to MPEG. Otherwise you have unnecessary loss of quality.

thanks to the prompt help, I came with DVD Shrink to cope so far as I am of the different DVD `s Choice s.Shooting want to select and hard drive storage could.
Has not worked so far but the burning program Nero 7: after the merging of the 4 pieces of movies I can on the screen while the action "creating menus and transcoding streams" track. It takes about 1 hr, then Nero will apparently stand. I then waited 40 minutes, but it does nothing more.
If Nero is not suitable? Do you have a tip to try for a freeware or a reference for me for a forum?
