Again as a part of the data converter Transcodiert and then converts back to HDMI.
HDMI is characterized by the fact that a "ready" monitor composite signal, only in a digital transmission format packed the monitor and so offer the best possible quality s.Monitor guaranteed.
The signal passes through a further transformation, as well as a multiple (cascaded) transcoding process, this advantage no longer exists.

You have absolutely right, only appears when the notification of customers to play no role and only as long as SD content via HDMI go, the quality difference is hardly likely to.
Somehow I would be times the latency of these boxes are interested ...

I do not know whether the SD is not at the same notice. Finally, SD is not bad, it's just smaller. But the quality parameters of the pixels are far worse.
Somehow I would be times the latency of these boxes are interested ... Well, this is only with regard to the parallel data (sound) to be interesting and yes HDMI extra features such as "Lip Sync" again adapted. In any case, with the manufacturers, so using the HDMI as it is and not the "cheap option".
My HD satellite track shows a latency of 200 ms Picture / Sound, no lip-sync.
