Hello,

I want my VHS cassettes digitaliserten archives. I have the whole day gegoogled and read in forums. And with'm not sure what format I choose. I'm going to get the Filem certainly not in the next 15 years look. Possibly. zwischendurcch to a new medium / format copy ...

I use Magix Video Deluxe, have some AVI files generated pass away, but can not in any other player eg DV_AVI works only in MAGIX (the file is synonymous quite small compared to other versions of AVI?)

Which version of AVI (codec) would you recommend?
Or AVI is not the right one for this purpose?

So I would as Mpeg 2 (DVD compliant) store in the 4:3 756 x 576 ratio

Then on DVD Save.

As I have digitized:
VHS recorder (Grundig) -> SONY DCR HC42 -> MAGIX vieo Deluxe.

Now I have a MAGIX movie. And had it saved as AVI XviD. Still have about 40 cassettes in front of me. Covered all before I convert, I ask again for other opinions. As I said sure, I am not that is the best way.

I or my children want him to cut dozens of years. Until then, I want it with little loss over the years to copy and copy.

But now the question is in what format do I copy today. Currently I copy XviD AVI (VHS are so bad that I 1GB per movie with 40-45min can live).

So you digitalisierst on the camcorder - which is no bad Qualittä offers.

If the material irgenwann in the future will be cut, I would not be such a hochkomprimierenden codec like DivX or XVid set. mpeg2 I already synonymous less than ideal, but it would be possible synonymous compact. And because this stop building across compressed.

The ideal would actually DV-avi, then it is in 720x576, and takes about an hour from 12 to 13 GB. Although the size of the files is not soo big problem is more - a 500 GB disk will cost very little for 100 euros.

On DVD, incidentally, I would rather not save - DVDs are no media for long-term security.

If you have the material quasi preserve for eternity and with as little loss of quality want to archive, I would - especially if the raw material is already bad - the best possible format to which I can get: In the case of a digitization with a DV camcorder, it would be DV-AVI.

Hmm, then my MAGIX 2004/2005 probably a quirk. DV-AVI was the first thing I've tried - it was done in few seconds and less than 1GB ...

I watch dan times Scenalyzer and AV Cutty.

They have 'nen hardware MPEG-2 encoder and give nix natively different. It is then synonymous little sense, these videos in another format ARCHIVE. If you want to edit the recordings, it can be useful and / or necessary, for example, to convert into DV.

That seems to work wonderfully and writes well Scenalyzer DV-AVI, which I then synonymous to the archive can use it.

I then with a sample DVD MAGIX made, the result seems a bit too dark to be. On the computer it looks better. This question, I have rather well in the specific MAGIX forum ...

See Video recordings s.Computermonitor not look good, if it is synonymous in your case is reversed. What ultimately counts is the Picture s.Television.

See some of our DVD with the original on VHS. If no differences are evident, then, at least, is nothing ever wrong.
