Frage von blackrat:I would like to use for video processing but synonymous backups and make it even for folder "My Documents" only. Operating system is on another plate. What it recommends:

Samsung SpinPoint T166 500GB SATA II (HD501LJ) Exactly, I use these plates in my Avid, which are currently in the Avid of certified HP workstations installed. So probably nothing speaks against it.

Antwort von Daigoro:
I would take the Samsung.
Each current test I saw the SpinPoint bescheiningt a very good performance - on average they are comparable Seagate, WD, Hitachi, etc. models.
What is the difference between a 'normal' and a 'video -' hard drive to be explained from the specified data.
Perhaps the video record on continuous write / read processes in a cost-optimized access of arbitrary?
Sooooo much different it is in modern plates but eh not really notice because there's other factors have a bigger impact on cutting video's have.
With "My Documents" (that is, the system orders itself) I would not work. There is too much system connected with Klump. Dear omit and 'normal' folders take.
Antwort von Burner87:
I do not know where the name video disk searched her, but officially there is not this name. The hard disks are all almost the same speed. For the Samsung clearly speaks of the price / GB and also it is the quietest of these three.

I do not know where the name video disk searched her, but officially there is not this name. As video disks can be used to cut distinction within a system of course, all records indicate that you used for video material. So, for example, in contrast to the system disk. That says nothing about the record, but only on their use in the system.

Antwort von Eva Maier:
For regular (normal) Harddisks adjust the read / Schreibkopft every few micro-seconds, which means it runs in basic position and then re-examined its sectors.
In the good old days because the data was demolished.
Alternative were SCSI disks.
Today plays no role anymore.
Slabs with Raptor 10000 rpm are synonymous like Viedeoplatten as described.
Personally I find that the video Kopfumschaltgeräusch drums lots corrosive.
