Infoseite // Video format and data rate for multimedia CD-Rom

Frage von basementmedia:

Hi,

I make the time with Macromedia Direcotr an interactive video instructions in the video clips shown on the basis of individual step-by-step assembly of a truck axle is.

Since I was not so long have been working with video my question:
The clips are now ready to be cut in DV AVI format (Type 1), but in this form viieeel obviously too big for playback of CD-ROM, which must now be umkonvertiert into a suitable video format.

The player that I use in the learning application for displaying the video clips that can playback all popular video formats, so all of DV-AVI to PAL DVD (MPEG2).
The only question now is, which format and which video data rate should I use. The video clips are displayed in the size of 600 x 450 (something unusual size - but not always) 4:3 and lässtsich due to the different screen layouts realize.

Video data rate at which the video quality still looks well and can be played back on a drive current standard PC with standard CD Rom? So, without jerk and disturbing picture fragments?

Am grateful for any help.

Regards
Daniel

Encode the videos eg MPEG-2 so complete that they include your educational software / the player, the complete CD ...

How do you get your unusual format into a standard DV file? Your Canopus Procoder knows only PAL / NTSC setting and because the format is clearly defined.
Can even a MPEG2 transport or program stream format 592x448/25p (rogressive / non-interlaced) with 2-pass VBR encoding and try the highest bit rate ... and there are bitrate / file size calculator, with whom you exactly to the max. Free CD-sized get there ...

Hi,

thank you for your answer.

The DV files are currently in the Resolution720 x 576th
And these are of me now in a sorry format 640 x 480 (of course not 600 x 450, was n failure of will I) converts, and in a way that the file still has good quality and now play of CD-Rom can (also with nem standard CD-ROM drive (synonymous with older, slower).

And now that I do not know precisely, should be rendered in what format and bit rate in which the video that the conditions are met. So MPEG1 or 2? Or Quicktime? And which video data rate? 2576 kbit / s or less / more? How much kbit / s can provide a medium-to slow CD-ROM drive?

I hope for more help, that would great.

Greeting
Daniel

times define mittelalt / o .... I know are 48x already been used for 4-6 years CD-ROMs that provide more than enough data rate.

You want to really play the educational CD via autorun when inserted into a PC? Then lend themselves to a codec that is definitely synonymous exists on older systems. MPEG2 and MPEG 1 should be. A DVD has a data rate of an average kbit 6000 / sec, your DV material 25MBit. This data rate must be able to process an ancient system of course vssynonymous Processor ago.
