Hi,
all depends on what you burn a disc.
With a regular standard definition MPEG 2 DVD, which will operate in an older DVD recorder makes a AX 2000, only very little sense.
In a mini Blu Ray (synonymous called AVCHD DVD) or Blu Ray Blank clearly see the difference - even an amateur or beginner.
As written above, who wants to work with "old-fashioned" good technique (ie DVD player & DVD recorder, older computers, old TV signal quality) with the VX 2100 is well served.
PS: By now you have to watch out for the DVD recorder, however, since some innovations can play synonymous high-resolution signals (eg Panasonic) and not only by the HDMI Standard Definition DVD Picture how far can inflate.
