One could image with the dimensions a little experiment. At exactly 768 x 576 (square) pixels crop of the tubes through the TV overscan the picture s.den edges. This image information may be missing. Maybe you have a fact-filled screen format, if you over 10% for the overscan subtract. Try it!

It is no preference, if I am with more pixels the picture scanner? It is expected down anyway? Only for the sake of completeness: Yes. Choose a picture, which is an exact multiple of the target size, it is not synonymous in the Height or Width distorted.
768 × 576 corresponds exactly 4:3. On the DVD-video land later only 720 × 576 (with square pixels). Optimal would then need a scan in the 4:3 format and a subsequent conversion after 720 × 576th Then the recording software s.Format no longer change.
Only small, it should probably not be? or In no case, otherwise the picture later inflated, which leads to blurring.
