Frage von Stoffel67:Hi,
first of all please excuse my ignorance because I am newbie in video editing.
I have the following: the material I have my old VHS tapes and digitized on the following way: I have my old VHS-C camcorder s.meinen DVD recorder and the material on its hard drive over to play. Then, I then of the hard drive of the DVD recorder to disc.
With the help of "Ulead Video Studio 11" I imported the *. VOB files and converted them into a *. avi file to. Thus, I can with the material Premiere CS3 very kompfortabel cut.
Until here everything works synonymous! At the end I would like to but a movie of one hour and 30 minutes. Fits on a DVD but only 1 hour on it. How do I do now s.besten? I burn my DVD's always with the "Ulead Video Studio 11". Sure, I could a double layer DVD but there are other ways synonymous?

mfg convert your movie in order to mpeg2, then it fits loosely on a dvd.

Hello Stoffel67,
in your approach digitalisierst / Du komprimierst analog video recordings in accordance with MPEG2 (packed in a VOB container file), transforms this s.PC Compression in AVI format to make it again later in MPEG2 zurückkomprimiert be.
It makes sense it would be, with the MPEG2 files to work, especially when priority hard cuts and only a few changes with titles, effects and filters are made. Many modern programs that offer a smart rendering to, by changing only the parts need to be re-rendered.
Which Film lifetime without any apparent loss of a single-layer DVD fit depends largely on the quality of the used MPEG-2 encoder and the type of video content from (motion, detail, etc.). Up to 1.5 hours long, it should be no problems if the encoder is good.

Thank you for the answers!

I would like but with much variation (smooth crossfades) filters and title work and is synonymous use Premiere. I fool myself or CS3 can not begin with MPEG2 files? At least I can not open.
"MPEG2 Encoder" I can understand the *. avi files only with "Ulead Video Studio 11" in MPEG2 umwadeln. I have not tried yet because I have not yet finished with the editing bin. I have over 20 hours VHS home movies shot and you can roughly imagine what a Mamutprojekt that is. I'm not even half the work already done and will certainly be 5 months. ;)

convert your movie in order to mpeg2, then it fits loosely on a dvd. Dünnsinn forget the times dear, your clips are in the VOB files that already encoded in mpeg2.
So I do not seriously believe that Premiere does not really import the mpeg2 should dominate. Perhaps it is not with "open" but with "import". Do you have any DVD player software installed? Windows XP will not mpeg2 codec with. Without this, it is not.
You can do it synonymous trial try a VOB file to mpg rename, maybe she reads premiere then. For a true conversion, there is the freeware "Super", and then would be an "uncompressed AVI" still the best choice.
I understand your question is not quite synonymous, because
"MPEG2 Encoder" I can understand the *. avi files only with "Ulead Video Studio 11" in MPEG2 umwadeln. I have not tried yet because I have not yet finished with the editing bin. For what you wanted to convert mpeg2 because if the first does not understand, but you want to work?
You're not yet "with the cut" ready, so you already cut, but what? With Ulead? Do you want some cut in Ulead and then something in Premiere to add?
