Frage von c.herf: Hello,
I will soon me a new iMac 24 "with a 320GB (think SATA) hard drive growth. Would I like to say one additional external growth plate. What I need for a properly to HDV capture and edit them? Had me here angeguckt :
Antwort von Axel Segebrecht:
Hi c.herf,
I would you a WD Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB (Enterprise Edition) hard drive in an external FW800 or eSATA enclosure recommended.
Thus you can quickly and easily capturing material :-)
For example:
- Macpower Pleiades Super S-Combo 3.5 "(c. 105 EUR)
- WD Raptor WD1500ADFD (c. EUR 175)
The speed and performance can be explained by several panels together or next increase. For example, in RAID0 composite.
Have fun,
Axel.

So ne expensive Raptor plate brauchts did not ne for external hard drive ... the bottleneck is the USB or Firewire connection to.
If the new iMac has Firewire 800, do not think so. Without eSATA brings you a fast garnicht plate. Moreover, the s.net for HDV;)
Antwort von Bernd E.:
If the new iMac has Firewire 800, do not think so. However, the iMacs have both Firewire 400 as synonymous 800th

The Raptor is expensive zZt. the fastest SATA disk on the market, with 10k rpm 16MB cache and it is ideal for video capture, etc. Comparison time a 7.2k rpm with the write access at the speed! :-D

eSATA is preferred, especially if your RAID storage needs:

zum Bild If the new iMac has Firewire 800, do not think so. Without eSATA brings you a fast garnicht plate. Moreover, the s.net for HDV;) Sorry, but especially for HD brauch man * speed *. But it always comes naturally s.was you just want to do ...
(...) If you are capturing 1080i 10 bit uncompressed HDTV, you'll need s.least Three Raptors in a RAID 0 set to achieve the magic 180MB / s target speed capture. Yet that only gives you 292GB of total storage. However, if you opt for four 250GB 7200rpm drives, you can achieve the same target speed but have 1000GB (1 terabyte) of total storage .(...) Personally, I will me a Raptor in FW800 enclosure pick, so I then asked for SD video fast and relatively inexpensive solution.
PS: The new iMacs have FW800

So with the bottle neck even when I think Firewire800 namely synonymous. What brings a hard drive with a data throughput of the port side? So FW800 so guess times 60-70MB / s? <- gefähriches semi! I would viellleicht the "WD 1000GB myBook PremiumII USB2.0/FW400/800" has to get 2 x 500s in raid 0 or 1-way choice and NEN FW800. Is that?

http://www.apple.com/imac/specs.html The times are indeed good news (Firewire 800 in the new iMacs) ...
But as the thread title already says it is not here to HDV to uncompressed HD;) because n is small difference in the data ... HDV 25MBit / s vs. HD 1, Nochwas Gigabit / s (video)

For my applications, the 1x Raptor over FW800 ext s.MacBook enough, because I always only do SD. If I were a little more coal, I would have my eSATA ExpressCard and external eSATA Tower fetch (with Port Replicator).
Then I could RAID0 +1 would drive and I think for the next time in my sleep * G

These new 1000 GB disks are quite cool. Just as quickly Raptors, but with 8-fold capacity. A 800-icecube firewire enclosure it - great.
