First you need to AE interpret the footage as a "lower field first". In the edition you choose a DV codec, such as MS DV AVI (or whatever on your calculator says) with the same image as when capturing. Again, give back "lower field first" from.

these codecs in general seems to me the problem to be that the film is extremely compressed and the quality suffers ziemliech. I would be a medium-ding between quality and size is important.

Then try with the free Lossless codec HuffYUV. If no interfering Farbsampling to take place, I like the whole.
