... looking for a microphone for sony dcr hc 17e ... Given the wide variety of microphones for good reason, there is, you'd have to give some more info:
Are you looking for a directional microphone for the next recording distant sound sources? A stereo microphone for the atmo-sound? A handheld microphone for interviews? Or something else? Does the Micro synonymous work well in very noisy environments? What connections did your Camera? How much do you want to spend about that?
The more accurately you describe your needs, the more likely someone will be able to give you meaningful advice.

a handy micro I reject. A shoe for the recording of microscopic s.dem camcorders is already available.
the microphone SonyECM HGZ-1 gets bad reviews. but in the direction I could imagine it already.
You can not look at other manufacturers?
to fit the shoe or not?
what you think of SonyECM-HST1?

... SonyECM-HGZ 1st .. or not to fit the shoe? what you think of SonyECM-HST1? ... Both microphones are suitable only for a specific accessory shoe, which has electric contacts. Now I know my way around this camera class, but I'm pretty sure that the HC17 had no such accessory shoe.
Is that right, then you can separate microphones with only one cable to connect the microphone jack of your camcorder, and I still worry that the HC17 synonymous lack such a jack.
And that would mean: no chance to connect an extra microphone with the camera too. So look safe again to provide exactly what opportunities your camcorder.

maybe there is a difference between HC17 and HC17E?
I got the shoes before me.
it is offered for these camcorders the micro.
in the meantime I've been thinking the microphone completely omitted.

... maybe there is a difference between HC17 and HC17E? ... Theoretically, it could (be a; Keywords PAL - NTSC), in practice, many traders leave out the "E" only once. But even if one is NTSC model and the other is the PAL version would be: both have the same accessory shoe.
... I got the shoe in front of me ... Then you can easily see how many electrical contacts are available. In all likelihood, however, even None, because the shoe of the HC17 would be a purely mechanical connection.
... it is for this camcorder offers the micro ... Trust in such cases, not the seller, but rather inform you when more reliable sources such as your camera's manual or the manufacturer lists on the overview page, which accessories fit any camera.
... in the zwischenzeithabe I thought, entirely omitting the microphone ... So it looks like you remains due to lack of connectivity synonymous nothing else.
