Frage von jonas1:Hi,
I'm in I go up a new definition dvd player, unfortunately, I look through any more, what would all those formats xvid, DivX, avi, mpeg, mpeg4 is concerned, and the more I google, the more confused I am.
If I understand this correctly: mpeg4 and xvid includes DViX one (the one is opensource and the other not). avi is a format for themselves??
I ask because some dvdplayers advertise to be able to play avi though as only mpeg4 is on it.
This would mean I only need to buy a mpeg4 dvdplayers, which must then be able to play xvid and avi, right?
And someone else s tip, which device really good for what?
regards
jonas

So I'm nen grundig gdp 9550th nich grad knows what the cost, have been given him. am fully satisfied with it. plays dvd, mp3, divx (which I think s.besten) and synonymous-burned VCDs, SVCDs, dvds and avi synonymous.
mpeg4 I know jetz nich, honestly never had to do with it ...

Danke schon mal extent.
Nevertheless, a detailed explanation of the formats would be of interest to me already ..
For eg I have gelsen that "AVI is a data container that can contain different stream formats, including synonymous MPG4 video streams. Would mean to me: mpeg4 is subformats "of AVI, which in turn includes (DViX and xvid), but that does not mean that I have a. Avi file that can play 100%, if anywhere mpeg4 is on it.

Hello Jonas,
AVI is only a container format, in the video - and audio data can be included. This data can be synonymous MPEG4 compression.
The question is, you absolutely need a DVD player that can play it all? - Sufficient for purchase DVDs and burned DVD-videos a "completely normal DVD player" without any additional functions. Unless you want to steal movies on the Internet and the mostly DivX-compressed files for playback in DVD player burn to a blank disc ... ;-)
