Dear brethren,
I would like, as so many of my video tapes (VHS standard tapes) deinterlace (mainly because digitize for the PC). On the thorny path to the goal I have several phases have experienced despair but always gekoomen next. Now I'm ready to discuss my results with the knowledgeable among you ;-)
Only once the description of how I digitize the moment:
1) I suppose at first with Pinacle 700 - in the Pinacle Studio USB grabber in M-JPEG: 720 * 576 25 fps (for 10 minutes of this format requires about 1.4 GB). FireWire comes to me, failing that, no question. Capturing in VirtualDub, unfortunately, goes with Pinacle 700 - USB grabber, and not the other grabbers, which I had tried all of them were just junk.
2) Such generated, I read a raw file in VirtualDub and do it with the smartbob Filter is a deinterlace-video with 50 fps.
3) When is the video I now generate the file is too large (10 min about 2.5 GB! - Nearly twice as large) as the original file. That is why I need a codec that I could hinzuschalten same.
I have already tried many codecs, but again and again to come across the same problem: either the quality is bad or the file is too large. I succeeded in my purpose is only when I compressed the uncompressed file from VirtualDub then in TMPGenc with MPEG-1 (quality setting at 80%). In this case, I finally got a video with 768 * 576 50 fps which is about 580 MB per 10 minutes in size.
Then 4 questions:
1) Does the whole synonymous faster? For just need is for 10 minutes of video rendering approximately 35-40 minutes.
2) At what point should I resize to make (of the recorded 720 * 576 on actual 768 * 576).
3) And the most important question: what codec settings with which I could use in VirtualDub, so I do not need to compress further with TMPGenc and what size would be appropriate here for the finished file? (768 * 576 50 fps).

Come on it to stop, what do you want to do anything with the material.
If you want to do it as a starting material in the best possible quality for everything possible, I would leave it exactly as captured. And only for final use in each of the appropriate format to convert (eg, using MPEG-2 for DVD)
For any re-conversion and a fortiori does deinterlacing and resize quality.
